canoelife Skills Our Progress courses are for those new to canoeing or with a little back-ground who may wish to develop their skills further, switch from tandem to Solo or vice versa. We have courses for Tandem and Solo paddlers alike, each being delivered during specific weeks to ensure skills are addressed for maximum learning opportunity. During the 5 days you will receive coaching on a range of canoe techniques alongside the paddle, such as poling. We will endeavour to cover aspects of efficient paddling on flat and moving water including any specific requests you may have.  Other courses also run are BCU/UKCC 1,2 and 3 star awards. Further information on the new star award syllabus can be found in PDF format on the BCU website www.bcu.org.uk . These courses will be designed around the BCU/UKCC requirements and on booking with us you will receive notes on these to ensure you are aware of the syllabus before attending. Both 1 and 2 Star are both generic awards, therefore a variety of crafts will be used at different points throughout the course, including Canoe, Kayak, and maybe inflatable’s. 3 Star is discipline specific therefore Canoe or Kayak will be specified. Progress Beyond courses are aimed at Canoeists who have experience of some moving water and are looking at Europe to develop. This is an opportunity to gain a greater understanding and level of skill on crystal clear alpine waters, in a stunning environment whether tackling mirror calm lakes, windy shores or challenging grade 2-3 water. The exact content of these weeks will be directly influenced by the requirements of those attending the course. |
Whats included We will provide you with fully outfitted royalex We-no-nah canoes, Grey Owl wooden paddles & poles, Palm BA’s and helmets. Each participant will also get the use of a True North expedition dry-sack, and Tarp. All transport during activity is included. Extra equipment for hire includes tents, sleeping bags, & stoves.
